TUBE WORKERS SHOULD BE FAIRLY TREATED

I have sent the following press release to various London media outlets:
PRESS RELEASE
London Underground maintenance workers will stage a series of 24-hour strikes over disparities in pay on the network.
Workers who help maintain the Jubilee Line at the Stratford Market depot voted unanimously in favour of industrial action and they will start their series of strikes between 7:29pm next Wednesday and 7:28pm on Thursday January 28. An indefinite overtime ban and work to rule will be in effect from Wednesday and there will be a further strike running from Sunday January 31 to Monday February 1.
The industrial action follows a round of intensive negotiations over harmonisation of of pay between union reps and the contractor Alstom which have not been resolved. Alstom has maintained a pay gap where staff at the depot receive thousands of pounds less in their annual salary than other tube workers. Contracting out of services on the Tube has led to a situation where Transport For London technically does not employ the staff working at the depot.
Solidarity Trade Union General Secretary Pat Harrington commented: “Alstom are refusing to bring in pay parity. They need to return to talks and negotiate a fair settlement.”
Richard Barnbrook said: “Alstom need to be fair to their workers and resolve the matter quickly without any disruption to Londoners.”
